Here's a few recommendations of things I've been reading, watching & listening to:

Music

I love this record.  It's pretty slow and you'll have to be in the right mood for it.....but definitely worth a few spins.
Joe Purdy is a great songwriter and a big inspiration for those of us that are doing it all on our own.

Sam Neely recorded 3 amazing records, this being his first.  I've been listening to it for 15 years and still
go back to it for inspiration when it's time for me to write a new album.  I've been listening to it a lot lately....

Although Drew is a good friend and the other half of the New American Voices Tour - I'm still a big fan.
His new album is songwriting at it's best.

I probably listened to this album more than any other in 2009.

I first met Bingham 10 years ago or so in a parking lot in Stephenville before one of our shows.
I'm proud of what he's been accomplished so far and have been wearing this out on vinyl

Eady is one of my favorite artists out there right now.
If you haven't had a chance you should do yourself a favor and listen to "Cry Pretty" - track 5 after clicking on the link.  Start from there.

Movies

I am a big fan of Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson and happend to catch the end of Royal Tenenbaums one night on TV recently.
Although I've seen all of these movies numerous times I couldn't help but go back and watch all three of them again last week.  I enjoy
both of their work seperately but love when Wilson and Anderson collaborate on projects.  I'll make another disclaimer as I did with the Joe Purdy album above  (so you can't blame me if you don't like them)  that you have to be in the right mood or have the right sense of humor to enjoy them.......but if you haven't seen them give it a shot.

Books

Drew loaned this book to me in December and I couldn't put it down.  David Sedaris has become one of my new favorite writers.  If you get a chance read "Holiday's On Ice".  It's a great book of short stories that will introduce you to his hilarious style of writing.

If you know me very well you know that I play a little poker......this is an amazing autobiography by a true Texas legend.

Coincidentally I just read Catcher In The Rye for the 100th time it seems the week before J.D. Salinger passed away.
Still my favorite book of all time.
